I have little idea how this blog works. I know we're supposed to lay out things and explain things like we're experts, and I will eventually, but for future readers admiring my tremendous insights (sarcasm?), know that when I started this I had no clue.
I spent a significant amount of time today getting the index.html page looking...not great, but more professional. Then I added a new post, typed pelican content/
into my command line, and it deleted all my work and restored this crappy default blog theme.
I wept (on the inside because I'm such a tuffy), but tomorrow's a new day and I'll google around and try again. That's the main piece of advice I could give to anyone at the moment: keep trying. For me, it helps to have a few projects going so I can change tasks if I start getting frustrated with one particular project.
People will also tell you to take breaks too. However, sometimes learning has time constraints where breaks are more anxiety inducing than they're worth. So what's the point of a break? It's to let your mind rest and drift as it makes new connections. Sometimes people will read or drive or exercise or eat as breaks. So it's not really doing "nothing", but doing another task that you don't have to think about. So why not let that other task also be studying?
What I've been doing recently is doing extremely easy review problems whenever my brain needs a break. They give my brain a rest because they're so easy my brain isn't using much energy to solve them, but I'm still reviewing and solidifying my knowledge. That's my first piece of advice: do incredibly easy, mindless review problems (that are hopefully marginally fun) during some of your breaks to review while resting for your next pass at learning harder concepts.
